Master Copy sketches of old dragon artwork from around the 1400's to 1600's (some more recent). Though Arrogath of course is mine.
It's easy to imagine all the old knights having slain young dragons rather than adults. As the illustrations from back then almost always pictured the dragons being no bigger than horses, with short horns and cat or oxen like ears.
I also enjoy the way their bodies were used, wrapping and coiling about in intricate knot patterns to aid the overall composition. Even the forked tongues would curl and loop.
In addition, the modern day use of dragons with feathered wings is not unfounded, as even back then they were sometimes depicted with them.
