Holly Honey Beast by KatePfeilschiefter Holly Honey Beast by KatePfeilschiefter
Creature commission for :icongabriellightz:

This funny fellow happens to have a colony of bees living in his gullet. And the honey he's drooling just might give you magical powers.

I especially enjoyed working on this as it employed several of my favorite themes, big cats, forest spirit monsters, and cervidae. I swear I must have some strange connection with deer. During a visit to Ocean Shores (WA) I could stalk into the midst of a group of grazing does without spooking them. I was able to hide from a bunch of friends this way, as my brown sweater helped me blend into the "herd". Granted these deer were very accustomed to people, but still it was funny.

Wow, this is amazing! Is it based on an actual mythological creature, or is it your own invention? Either way, it's fantastic!

No, the idea for the creature came from the commissioner. But thank you!

did you get the antler idea from Megalocerous (Irish Giant Elk, largest member of the deer family)?
