Behemoth#3 by KatePfeilschiefter Behemoth#3 by KatePfeilschiefter
More Behemoth roughs.

I hope to get back into working on the Aerie project soon. Producing a lot of concept sketches of the world and characters. The behemoths serve a background role. They're future magafauna, having evolved from either elephants, rhinoceros, giraffes, oxen or other large ungulate herbivores. They're prime prey for dragons, wyverns, and other big predators, as well as beasts of burden and livestock for humans.

As these are preliminary concepts and not final designs, feedback is welcome.

Very cool, I like the well-thought out details of this creature. :) The Aerie project sounds very interesting, I love speculative biology. Terryl Whitlatch, I saw an interview with her on Bobby Chiu's Imaginism site, she is a big inspiration to me also... along with the big space artists like Chesley Bonestell and early pulp SF artists like Emsh and Jack Gaughan... some of them painted amazing spaceships, planet scenes, and alien creatures.

Hard to say yet. These guys heads reach to about the same height of a modern giraffe, but they're bodies are obviously a lot bulkier.

I really like this design!
But I think the neck is a little too heavy for the body.
